How Does LASIK Work?

Mobile LASIK Surgery LASIK surgery can be a life-changing procedure. With advanced technology, LASIK surgery can be as fast as 30 minutes, and sometimes even less. However, many of our Mobile patients ask: how does this procedure work to correct vision?

  • Numbing Drops: Dr. Chris Walton will administer numbing eye drops. The effects of this medication take place within seconds, and last for about 15 minutes.
  • Corneal Flap: Dr. Walton will then create a flap in the corneal tissue using either a laser or a blade. The flap is then lifted for the next step in the process.
  • Laser Reshaping: this stage involves a state-of-the-art corrective laser, which is used to reshape the middle layer of your cornea. Dr. Walton uses the Allegretto Wave laser, one of the most advanced lasers available for LASIK procedures.
  • Flap Replacement: after the laser completes its process, the corneal flap is then replaced using special instruments. Here, Dr. Walton may apply more eye drops to help ease any discomfort.

After your procedure, your eyes may water and feel irritated for a few hours. Dr. Walton may suggest for you to get plenty of rest and schedule follow-up visits to track healing and progress. Using this safe and effective method, Dr. Walton has helped 100% of his patients achieve 20/20 vision or better.

To ensure you get the best results from your procedure, Dr. Walton will discuss your unique treatment options, as well as his LASIK process.
