Preparing for LASIK

preparing for LASIK - Mobile, AL and Pensacola, FL Are you tired of waking up in the morning, stumbling to the bathroom for your contacts and tripping over things along your way because you can’t see anything? Maybe it’s time for you to consider getting LASIK.

LASIK is one of the most popular refractive surgery procedures that you can choose from. Using an excimer laser to reshape your cornea, LASIK successfully treats almost any refractive vision error, including:

  • Myopia (nearsightedness)
  • Hyperopia (farsightedness)
  • Astigmatism

Dr. Chris Walton uses the Allegretto Wave® laser, the most advanced laser available, to conduct LASIK treatment on his patients. To date, 100% of Dr. Walton’s patients have received 20/20 vision or better with the use of this laser.

There is some preparation prior to the day of your LASIK procedure. Do not wear contact lenses at least 6 days prior to the day of the procedure as contact lenses can distort the shape of the cornea. It is also important to consult your insurance prior to the procedure to verify if they cover any of the cost.

On the day of your LASIK surgery, some tips to remember include:

  • Do not wear eye makeup, creams or lotions on your face
  • Schedule a ride home from the doctor’s office
  • Take the prescription pain medicine (Dr. Walton prescribes valium) 1 hour prior to the surgery time

If you live in the Mobile, Alabama or Pensacola, Florida area and are considering LASIK, please contact Dr. Chris Walton using the form at the right side of the page or call 251-341-3385 today to schedule your free LASIK consultation and diagnostic exam.
